Reiki is a hands-on (and off) energy technique that promotes relaxation, stress reduction and homeostasis – the body’s natural relaxation state.
The word Reiki literally combines ‘Rei’ and ‘Ki’. Rei meaning universal spirit or life force energy. And ‘Ki’ (known as Chi in China, prana in India) is life energy, our life force.
Everything on this earth has a vibration, and thus a life force in it. When energy is low, blocked or restricted, you may find yourself open to illness. There are other key things that ki engage with us as humans: emotions, thoughts and spiritual being. We are based up of positive and negative charge (yin and yang).
Reiki is guided to us through spiritual being and is gifted as spiritual life force energy.
Charlie acts as a vessel for this healing life force energy to help improve your ki and sense of wellbeing.
What does Reiki do?
In order for the body to heal, it must be in homeostasis (relaxation response) and Reiki almost instantly promotes this. The reiki energy goes where it is needed. Ki flows naturally around our energy body which is made up of different entities: chakras, meridians and nadis. It is also around our physical body in our aura.
Wellbeing can be defined as a balanced and flowing ki.
We know that when the flow of ki is interruped, our organs and cells are affected. We also know that Ki responds to negative thought patterns. These can become entangled in our subconscious mind, they create a disruptied flow of ki.
Reiki works by finding the negative ki and depositing healthy ki in to the energy field. This helps raise the vibration and disrupt the negative energy. Blocked or disruted energy disperses, once the healthy ki is back flowing through the body, the physical fascia and organs are able to repair and heal.
The Reiki Principles:
Just for today, I will not anger
Just for today, I will not worry
Just for today, I will be grateful
Just for today, I will do my work honestly
Just for today, I will be kind to others
Back to basics:
Philosophies of Reiki. In Japan, they believe that everything has a spirit and that mountains and water are particularly sacred. In the 18 and 19th centuries, Japan opened up to the western world and the culture as they had previously knew it changed. This is perhaps where Usui founded Reiki. A spiritual belief system, but not a religion.
We know that mantras, affirmations have a positive influence on our wellbeing and this is integral in the Reiki practice.
In essence, Reiki uses a system of lineage (Buddhism), this is accessible to everyone, the importance of connecting to nature and the use of sacred symbols and mudras. This is his foundation of the Reiki system.
